The Kiwanis Club of East Hawaii was founded in October of 1963 in Hilo, Hawaii. Our purpose is to serve the children of the world, one child and one community at a time.
The Kiwanis Club of East Hawaii is a proud sponsor of the following Service Leadership Programs (SLP):
E.B. deSilva Elementary K-Kids
Waiakeawaena Elementary K-Kids
Hilo Intermediate Builders
East Hawai`i Liko Builders
Hilo High School Key Club
Kea`au High School Key Club
Waiakea High School Key Club
Through our sponsorship of these SLP's, we hope to mentor and guide the next generation of servant leaders in our community.
Annual Service Projects include:
Big Island International Marathon
Kiwanis Keiki Day
Merrie Monarch Festival Ticket Collectors
Panaewa Zoo Cleanups
The Kiwanis Club of East Hawaii also focuses on other projects that directly benefit the children in our community. Previous projects include filling backpacks with school supplies for Kalanianaole Elementary; preparing hygiene kits for homesless shelters throughout East Hawaii; and making sensory bottles as Christmas gifts for students of Keaau Elementary.
Our club currently meets at Tiki Turtle on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of every month at 12:00pm.
